Answers
How can I get advice on prescribing any of balance healthcare’s products?
A consultant is available to answer these and other PRACTITIONER/STUDENT queries from 9-5 Mon-Friday. Please send your query by email to consultant@balancehealthcare.com or call 07977 169137
PLEASE NOTE OUR CONSULTANT IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ADVICE DIRECTLY TO PATIENTS/GENERAL PUBLIC - YOU MUST REFER TO YOUR LOCAL PRACTITIONER.
Do balance healthcare make patient referrals to practitioners?
No, we direct any member of the public that contacts us to professional organisations and registers of locally qualified practitioners, rather than recommend individual practitioners.
Which Acupuncture needle is most appropriate for my patient?
This will in most cases vary on the practitioner. Japanese trained practitioners may go for a “Japanese“ style needle whereas busy practitioners in drug rehabilitation or “Detox” clinics often require the a more competitively priced needle. Between these two price categories are different needles of differing prices. Perhaps it is best to try a sample of each to establish your “working favourite” as a great many practitioners do.
Are the Needles Sterile?
Today Acupuncture needles are made according to a great many exacting quality control procedures. Like our Herbal Medicines, Acupuncture Needles are subject to GMP ( Good Manufacturing Practice) All needles are EO gas-sterilised, have clear “best-before” data and are designed to be disposed after single application.
Are “Herbal Medicines” Safe ?
Herbal medicine forms a part of the oldest continually practiced traditions of healing the world over. Many of the materials used in ancient and contemporary ”Herbalism” irrespective of tradition, are common foods . Minerals and other materials were also once used in the traditional medicine . The modern term “drug” is derived from the Old Gemanic “Drogue” denoting a “Dry Herb”. Whilst Herbal Medicine practiced correctly according to a correct diagnosis by a trained Practitioner can often achieve “miracles” in today’s clinic, the reckless or “self-prescribed “ administration is to be shunned entirely. This is not only to preserve the integrity of the many traditions of Herbal Medicine and it’s practitioners in this 21st Century, but to protect the general public from harm. Herbal Medicines can have a many “contra-indications” and can cause great damage if not respected and used safely and professionally.
Do you sell Tinctures?
No. However, we do sell Kan Herbal Singles. Take a look at our Product Finder, Herbal Formulae and click on Kan Herbal Singles for more information.
Do you sell Dried Herbs?
No. However, we do sell Concentrated herbal powders, Tablets, capsules, and Liquid Extracts. Take a look at our Product Finder on our home page.
What are the benefits of buying Kan liquid extracts from you rather than tinctures?
A tincture is an alcohol-based method whereby herbs are soaked for a
pre-determined amount of time, at room temperature, in order to draw out the constituents. Although tinctures are effective, they tend to be bitter and often lead to poor patient compliance. Tinctures typically have a lower extraction efficiency ratio than extracts and do not contain a full range of the bioactive ingredients.
Extracts, on the other hand, are produced by heating ground herbs at low temperatures in a water/alcohol base. Only the water/alcohol extract process delivers the full spectrum and highest levels of active ingredients from the herbs, as some herbs will not extract well in a water only matrix. Kan`s state-of-the-art extraction processes assure that all of the active constituents of a herb are included in the final product. Kan`s extracts are made up of a water-alcohol matrix containing 20% alcohol, by volume, and 15% to 40%, by weight, of dissolved herbal constituents.
These extracts are of the highest potency with a ratio of 8 pounds of herbs to a gallon of liquid. Only distilled water is used, to eliminate contamination from heavy metals that may be present in tap water.
Effective Chinese herbal therapy demands a high concentration of all compounds – making extracts a great addition to your professional clinic.
I am a student. Do you sell any special starter packs?
Yes, go to our product finder list and select Student Acupuncture Pack for details.
Don`t forget you are also entitled to 10% discount on all our other products (unless otherwise indicated) - we just need proof of your student status. Call our Sales Advisers on 0800 072 0202 for further information.
What are your office open hours?
9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
However, you can place an order online or by fax (01608 658816) or email (sales@balancehealthcare.com).
Orders will be actioned as soon as the office re-opens.
Do you have any suggestions on how can I promote my clinic and attract new clients?

We also suggest taking a look at our Business Information section - found in the Resources section at the top of the home page.
If I want you to despatch my order the same day I place it, what do I need to do?
Simply order before 12noon and we will despatch your order the same day - subject to avaliablity of the goods ordered.
If I place my order today, when will I get my goods?
Order BEFORE 12noon and we will despatch your goods the same day, by First Class Post or Parcelforce - whichever is cheaper. This means you should receive your goods the next working day - dependent, of course, on the efficiency of the postal system.
We cannot guarantee same day despatch if you place your order AFTER 12noon. If we are unable to despatch your goods the same day, they will be despatched the next working day, First Class or Parcelforce - whichever is cheaper.
What is GMP?
